    To The Planning Department
I wish to lodge a formal objection against the proposed plans for the above-mentioned property by Developer Ever City Land Pty Ltd to build a 4 level, 52 dwelling apartment complex.
I object to this development on the basis that this is a general residential Zone 5 which is allowed some low to small medium density developments. This area consists mostly of single homes, dual occupancies and smaller townhouses. This proposed development at 585 – 589 Burke road is more appropriate amongst other high rise developments in higher density areas such as Camberwell Junction rather than a residential neighbourhood.
I have major concerns about the increase in traffic with 52 more dwellings in such a small area. The existing traffic conditions on Burke Road regularly cause the traffic to bank up as far as Fairfield Avenue. The proposed development will exacerbate this intensively and cause major traffic congestion which will drive cars down residential side streets to avoid this bottleneck and subsequently increase noise pollution. There are currently no traffic calming devices in the side streets the east side of Burke road opposite the proposed development which makes them attractive cut throughs for traffic.
I am also concerned that the parking for residents and their visitors will overflow down into Fairfield Avenue, Pine Avenue and Andersen Park Road. There is already parking congestion at the Burke Road end of these streets with no current parking restrictions and the proposed development will force an increase of parking on these residential streets to the detriment of the neighbourhood.

I agree totally with Nicole and plead with the planning department for some consistency and respect for our neighborhoods. When we invest in an area, we do so trusting our council and planning departments to protect our investment, rights and living standards. Is there no end to this ruination of our very desirable suburb. Please listen and consider the sentiments of your ratepayers and constituents.

This proposal breaks all the regulations being in NRZ1 which means it must meet neighbourhood character requirements as set out by council.
It follows the line being pushed by Dovey, Woodcock and Adams for multi-storey development along transport corridors. which has been pushed strenuously by the development industustry.
We urge the neighbours to form protest group and object to council and if necessary to VCAT (the developers' tribunal). You can download our guidelines for objecting from our website www.brag.asn.au
