    I am writing in objection to this development for a number of reasons:
    1) amending the use of Shop 37 from a food outlet and into a sales office removes the option of attracting a replacement tenant of the same or similar type to replace the current tenant;
    2) there is no other suitable location for the placement of a fresh poultry store within the Winston Hills Shopping Mall as this location is opposite a major supermarket and in the area services by a bakery, butcher and fishmonger, making shopping for fresh food more simple;
    3) Winston Hills Shopping Mall is visited by over 5,000,000 visitors every year and will be the only sub-regional shopping centre in the immediate area without a chicken shop.
    4) The cost of re-converting Shop 37 into a suitable outlet for fresh food once the sales office meets its objectives will be born by any incoming tenant and is an unnecessary cost to place on small business

    For the above reasons, I provide my objection to this DA and ask that council consider this in their determination

    Council should be aware that a small shopping centre like Winston HIlls services only people within a two kilometre radius. We all appreciate having a choice that allows us escape the grip of the large supermarket giants. A specialist outlet for poultry and poultry products provides a great range of products, many of which are "slower moving" in retail terms, and are thus not stocked by the large supermarket chains.
    I speak for a family that does not eat beef or pork and having access a great range of chicken products is very important to us. We now shop regularly at Seven Hills for that very reason.

    I am against this proposal and wish to keep Winston Hills Shopping Mall as it is; with NO units.

    I am totally against this proposal. We need shops not a sales office.
    We do not want these units to be built. It is a residential area, we need restaurants , shopping or entertainment. NOT A BLOCK OF UNITS

  6. Alison Roberts commented

    We don't want our beautiful suburb to become built up. Keep the shopping centre as that with shops and restaurants for our community. Our school and other infrastructure can't support this increase in numbers.

    I voice my objection to this development on the basis of the folloowing
    1) that conversion of this shop front removes choice for the shoppers, the shop front is located next to the butcher,baker and seafood retailer and opposite Coles. The shop front would better suit a poultry shop or other fresh food outlet.
    2) Removal of this option reduces the choice for local residents and decreases the desirability of the mall.

    How this DA was approved is beyond me. Such underhanded tactics to get this through and such objection. Was this approved before or after the Parramatta Council merge? Trust no one I say. I agree with all the above points.
    Personally I use to shop at Leonard's weekly - supporting a small business. Not happy about this outcome at all.
    But hey, why be concerned with the local community......Big business will just continue on their merry way. We are but mere pawns in the circle of life here.

    Yeah I'd send this to an elected Councillor but the NSW Govt sacked them all and installed an Administrator who couldn't give a toss about this.

    I object to the application to make shop 37 into a sales office on the following grounds:
    It is taking away an option from the food buying public; many people buy chicken ( and the variety of chicken dishes available) and like to support smaller businesses rather than the big supermarkets.
    The sales office is not within the character of the WH centre: it caters basically for families needs, in a small but very vital shopping centre. It will not generate the amount of business for the centre that the current shop does.
    Our schools and local amenities are not set up to cater for the number of people estimated to live in these units, this will result in further frustrations and standards for all

    The development does not benefit the community. The majority voices are not heard. People entrusted to make such decision much act responsibly for the community instead selected few.

    I object to the Application to make Shop 37 into a Sales Office for the proposed Unit Development. The local area and the shoppers at Winston Hills Shopping centre will have zero benefit from a sales office. The community is need of food choices at that end of the shopping centre in keeping with the fresh food takeaway feel. With no change to the existing infrastructure the increase of additional people in a concentrated area will be a great burden on our amenities. Only imagine trying to get a park there if the development goes ahead! Totally opposed to the sales office and needless to say disgusted that the development got through !!

  12. Elizabeth Banyard commented

    I object to the proposal to make shop 37 a sales office for the proposed unit development. This is valuable retail space which should be used for the benefit of local shoppers. Since the proposed units are not welcomed by the community, the sales office will not benefit local shoppers in any way. Shop 37 was previously set up as a specialist chicken shop, which was appropriate in the context of the shopping centre. Making it a sales office is a dramatic departure from this use, requiring dramatic refurbishment, which would then likely have to be reversed at the expense of a future tenant, as the sales office by its very nature would be temporary.
