About time this area was cleaned up an absolute fire hazard. Let's hope now you look at the dangers of this intersection before someone is killed.

The tree at church and Ibbotson Intersection have been there prior to 1960's with no major fire incidents! They have been an oasis in the desert of the creeping suburbia and an oxygen tent for the planet due to the lack of trees in current new developments in the area. They have offered the local and visitors to the area a fantastic cool walking track through Macdonald road on many a hot afternoon. Don't let anyone forget the birds that come we see because of those trees what will happen to the cockies will they start gnawing on balustrades without the pine cones and large trees.
Then there are the Bellarine micro bats. They live in the bark or small openings in trees. They just happen to be one of our greatest local mosquito catches. 600 mosquitos per hour per bat. We had a local naturalist out to do a study a few years ago as we had one living in a very small opening in our house. We have installed bat boxes but where will all the natural occurring animals go as we randomly bulldoze everything. We need to make some concessions about adequate natural environment within our local community. Otherwise we will never up with concrete, wood chip, synthetic lawn, brick and tile. Covenants are restricting building colours and design, tree heights etc,.
Originally the planning scheme set the area up as a "fishing village" type area, I missed the planning schedule that said it was now to be a Geelong or Melbourne suburb with a sandy belt on the fringe.

The intersection is a problem for several reasons, one that nobody follows the speed limit of 50 in that area. Two the road is so poorly maintained and full of pot holes most of the year as it is a dirt road. Thirdly the road has no drainage or indentations at the side to take any run off so it sits to make it more dangerous.
The council planning person told us at the earlier meeting about this subdivision, that any roadworks undertaken will only be done directly in front of the sub division. This will be a joke. It means that we will have part sealed road along Ibbotson stopping around Martin St, dirt road, then a new section just outside this estate, and the same old intersection at Church, Mcdonald and Ibbotson st.
