Council, a Bunnings Showrrom, Garden Centre and Restaurant would be absolutely, 1000% inappropriate for Coolum. Bunnings, as you know, submitted an application in 2006 to build on this site and was rejected by both Council and Court. The location highlighted above has been zoned rural and is not appropriate for development. Furthermore, traffic congestion will be aggravated at school pick-up and drop-off times if such a development were approved. Please, Council, do NOT approve this inappropriate development application.

Dear Council, The proposed Bunnings, Service Station & Retail development at the entrance to Coolum is totally inappropriate. Who wants to be greeted by a huge monstrosity as they enter Coolum Beach, certainly not myself or my family. There is a mega Bunnings just down the road in Maroochydore and another store in Noosa to service the area. If Bunnings are hell bent on having a store in Coolum then the logical site would be the industrial area to divert traffic out of town. The traffic is horrendous enough in that area around school time.

This is the most innaproprite application, ranking up there with Sekisui. Bunnings have already been knocked back twice with good reason. A big box hardware store is not required for Coolum and the surrounding area. We have a most adequate local hardware store and 2 big enough Bunnings at Maroochydore and Noosaville. How is the market going to be better served by another one? Traffic in that area is bad enough at school drop off and pick up times. Is there a plan in place to lessen the traffic problems should this development be approved and even if there is at the end of the day this is one development we do not need.

    Dear council.

If bunnings was needed in coolum it should be built in the industrial estate where big sheds go that sell building materials- there are nice big roads with pleanty of other trade specific business that are all out there to so bunnings can face the business they will be shutting down.

There is also a petrol station in the industrial area that services all sorts of vehicles 24/7.

Bunnings is only located 15 minutes north or south in both directions which seems silly as to why we need another oversized hardware right in town.

They will need to build roads which will cause more traffic jams on our one road into town.

Increased traffic to the area near the school will put our tiney kids at more risk to traffic dangers, people dangers, and pollution from all the increased activities - there fresh lungs dont want to be smelling car fumes and petrol fumes while they are trying to learn and play.

Be realistic we dont need it.

It will only force our local mitre 10, paint shops, nurserys, hot food shop, corner stores and most of other little business we have clinging on as it is.

Please take into consideration all these points and really connect with the community to see what we want in our community not what big multi million dollar business want cause we all now they stuff everything up.

Support the local business and your community after all we are they ones that live here. :)

This application should never have been considered at all . Firstly, the congestion is already at a maximum for the roads around the school. Secondly, the children's safety and health would be at a very high risk with more traffic around the school area. Thirdly, what happens to the 2 well equipped, experienced hardware stores and numerous other businesses who are already in the Coolum area? The Bunnings north and south of Coolum are close enough for our size population. Most people think that Bunnings is cheaper. Well I know from experience that is NOT always the case. Fourthly, What an eyesore to welcome national and international visitors to our small coastal village (apparently).
Please remember, we are the Sunshine Coast, not the Gold Coast. And that is why most of us chose to live here in the first place.

This application should be approved without hesitation, i get sick and tired of having to go to Maroochydore or Nossa Bunnings, also while i am in those towns i will do other shopping that i could be doing in Coolum.
Another reason is that the back entrance to coolum off the Motorway is just ugly and makes your first view of Coolum not much at all, i am sure that what Bunnings are proposing will make that look much better and appealing.
i wish residents in Coolum area would for once get behind some local Development and get Coolum out of the 1950s and 60s and attract more business to the area.

Bunnings already have a number of super sized retail hardware stores servicing the Sunshinecoast. Coolum beach/ North shore have several independently owned hardware stores servicing both retail and wholesale trade market. These stores are independently owned and profits from these stores, shared within our local community. The introduction of a Bunnings store in the Coolum/ Northshore area, would not only have severe impact on our local established businesses but also potentially prevent new retail opertunities for example, nursery and white goods stores.
Coolum needs to maintain its individualality.

Coolum does not 'need' a Bunnings hardware store. There are two within a reasonable distance. This development does not fit in with the council's vision of being the most sustainable on the coast. The location would be more appropriately used to extend the national park further south, using the environment levy, which would then be much more attractive to visitors and locals and preserve the dwindling 'green' areas of the Sunshine Coast. Why stop there, council could buy the land all the way to Mt Coolum and provide the locals and visitors with more recreational areas, walking/ biking tracks that serve the community and preserve the environment whilst attracting visitors to spend their money in Coolum to improve the local economy.
