If I were the previous owner/s I would be suing Moreland Council!
This was home to Anzac hero William Murrell!

This is just ridiculous, obviously heritage listing homes no longer protected. Councils are allowing builders to just willy nilly any property they desire. Is anyone checking over properties before allowing permits to become active. Obviously not! It is about time councils starting doing their jobs properly.

Last updated on - September 23, 2004 What is significant? The house at 151 Melbourne Avenue, Glenroy. How is it significant? The house at 151 Melbourne Avenue, Glenroy is of local aesthetic significance to the City of Moreland. Why is it significant? Of aesthetic significance for its unusual single-ridged form and bold detailing and for its reasonably intact exterior. The fence and entry gate is an early form of fencing and if not original, then near contemporary with the house. It is also of note as an unusual and early surviving example of a pre World War One bungalow residence in an outlying area of Melbourne which would not see substantial development until after World War Two.At the time of its construction this house was on a pocket of farmland and was surrounded by just a scattering of houses from the Victorian period. (AHC Criterion E.1) - See more at: http://vhd.heritagecouncil.vic.gov.au/places/59047#sthash.yIuTfOKD.dpuf. I got onto the Heritage site of Victoria. The house has been left so it looks neglected & aslo part of the fence has been destroyed. It is about time someone took heed of this.

Obviously this dwelling will never be restored, the up keep of this dwelling has been neglected for decades. I drive past this house almost daily morning and night. Due to its dilapidated state its been fenced off, drug users and squatters occupy the site frequently, next door to a childcare center, which we do not appreciate. This site is unsafe. This site should be better utilized by the community being so close to amenities and infrastructure, also providing young families affordable housing.
