This is a very busy petrol station on Erskineville Rd. I think most locals identify it's location as Erskineville rather than Newtown. The use of this site for a temporary food kiosk is impractical and for the proposed hours is not fair to the surrounding predominantly residential neighbourhood. The tankers deliver regularly, and use this driveway on Union St for access, but it is proposed to be blocked. The 4metre no smoking laws will push the smokers 4 metres from the doorways of the Imperial Hotel which is opposite, and 4 metres from any food kiosk to where? In front of resident's homes and nearer petrol pumps? The proposed "seating" will be in the area of the fire hose, and the air hose, so you have to block the driveway access off Erskineville Road to put air in tyres? Is it correct, my understanding of Road Rules is that you cannot cross double lines, so if you cannot exit via Union St to turn right, then you have to exit from Erskineville Road driveways and cross the double lines if you want to turn right?

I have significant concerns about the proposed erection of a food kiosk at the service station on Erskineville Rd. My main concern relate to
    1. the kiosk drawing additional disruptive people (foot-traffic and vehicles) to the area late in the evening when residents are trying to sleep,
    2. Additional vehicles driving through residential streets looking for parking late in the evening,
    3. The potential increase in rubbish discarded by kiosk patrons in surrounding streets,
    4. The potential for the kiosk to be a holding point for noisy patrons late in the evening,
    5. The risks associated with noisy, inebriated patrons of local hotels being violent when attending the kiosk late in the evening.

It should be recognised that patrons of the kiosk will not just disappear at the proposed closing time of the kiosk, they will remain in the area after the kiosk ceass trading for the evening. The real impact of the proposed kiosk could be several hours after trading ceases.

The proposed activity is out of keeping with the area it is to be situated. Local residents already have have significant inconvenience foisted upon them with the late trading hours of the Imperial Hotel. To add a food kiosk to the mix would only exacerbate the existing problems for residents and add a new mix of problems.

I also am very concerned about allowing a kiosk to the Service Station. This just provides another outlet for people very late at night to congregate and create a noisy disruptive environment especially opposite a pub.

I am very concerned that with the lock out laws applying to the CBD and Kings Cross/ Darlinghurst that the people looking to avoid those conditions are slowly moving into the Newtown/Erskinvilee/Enmore area. I do not want the very safe environment we have now to be compromised by this activity.

Please consider the impact on the residents of our suburbs.

Erskineville, the area that this site is mostly associated with, is a family and LGBTIQ friendly area. This proposal is completely out of touch with the patterns of work, sleep and recreation associated with Erskineville's families and LGBTIQ residents. It is more in line with the needs of patrons who are neither family- nor LGBTIQ- friendly from other areas and who are attending local entertainment venues. One particular local venue, immediately next to the proposed site has been especially at odds with local needs since its change of management earlier this year. The change of management appears to have brought criminal behavior to its venue, including drug dealing, violence and break and enter. The police have been involved at the venue and surrounding area on several occasions, but management has so far shown itself to be incapable of addressing the problem and has suffered licensing changes as a result. This proposal appears to be an attempt to extend what is already a problematic approach to venue management which will no doubt further degrade the area, alienate residents and cause problems with violence and crime. I urge the Sydney City Council to reject it.

I am opposed to the proposal to provide a food kiosk at the Erskineville Service station. My concerns are.
    1. It will block the way one can enter and exit via the service station and it’s facilities.
    2. It will increase rubbish in the streets, especially with the late night operation.
    3. It will encourage patrons to loiter outside the venue. It is already quite difficult to walk past the very narrow footpath with the smokers on the street.
    4. It will encourage people not to use the other food venues nearby taking trade from rent based shop venues that have higher overheads. We don’t have a shortage of food venues in the area and they provide a range of food from quick cheap takeaways, pub food to sit down venues.12 in Erskineville village alone.
    5. It may attract dive by patrons that drop in for a late night feed, which may create more traffic late at night and also block the service station in working hours.
    6. It may create a venue for drug dealing, it has been associated with venues that have vehicular transport. The venue that it is setting up in front has recently been closed for drug dealing, will this venue encourage more of this.
I feel it will encourage people just to keep drinking instead of having a break, I also feel it will encourage people from the cross over to Erskineville when it gets close to lock out time. I don’t wish for Erskineville and Newtown to become the new Kings Cross. I feel that the hours it is planning on operating are on to late in the night and will cause more noise, traffic and litter to the nearby residents.
