Do you really think Hornsby needs 220 units in such an already high traffic area this is lunacy

Where will they park their cars?
Where will their kids go to school?
    What doctors will they see?
What parks will they play in?
How will they get to work?
    Where will they shop?
Hornsby's infrastructure is already overloaded. It must be significantly improved before anything like this can go ahead.

Hornsby Council renamed the road Peats Ferry Road to "maintain the heritage". It's not the name of the road that concerns me, its the number of cars and pedestrians who will be trying to fit into it if Council's plan goes ahead. How can we show our children the history of Hornsby if it has all been replaced by 25 storey buildings? Each time I drive towards ugly Chatswood I dread the thought that one day our dear Hornsby will look like this. Please leave the old side alone. We like it just the way it is. I lived in Pennant Hills from 1970-1975, Albert Street Hornsby 1975-1978 then we built our home in Westleigh and we are still living here. 45 years here in Hornsby should mean my opinion counts. How many councillors have lived in Hornsby shire for that long?

Object. Strongly. Let's not lose our heritage of the old side of Hornsby. It's value is in its history, let's not wipe it out by unsympathetic development.
As a resident, born in Hornsby hospital, of more than half a century, this development represents a negative impact on my personal heritage because it will remove my links to my place of birth.
These units are to be exclusive to Chinese buyers who will rent them to Australians who might have otherwise bought them. The result is Australians being second class people to foreign landlords. This is inexcusable.

This application should not be approved. One only needs to look at the high rise slums that once grand suburbs such as Waitara, Chatswood and Strathfield have become. Hornsby is in serious danger of going down the same path.

Additionally, the zone which has been chosen is already congested and will only add to the traffic woes already apparent at peak times.

That the Hornsby Council (who have already done so much to destroy Waitara) would even consider this should have Councillors hanging their heads in shame.

    What a disgrace.

Great! It's about time the west side of Hornsby be re-developed into a vibrant and cosmopolitan community, creating jobs and contributing to the economy. Hopefully this will be the first of further development proposals.

This is not for the benefit of Hornsby. It is for the benefit of overseas investors.
Obviously there are no Hornsby Council members living near the vicinity of Dural St. The four year noise from the construction of the pool has been horrendous and now they are going to top it off with the construction of 25 storey buildings. The 'old side'-'west-side' will just be another Waitara. If they build on top of the old shop facades to accomodate businesses it will be be foreign investors renting out to Australian companies.
A compromise of building height to at most 6 storeys would at least reduce some of the trauma to the west side. It seems to me no matter how much opposition there is to these developments only a handful of people on the council make these decisions regardless of community input!

it is an obscene size and totally out of keeping with the rest of the precinct.
it is madness. it asks......who benefits?

I was blocked by the Hornsby Advocate on Facebook for expressing my outrage at this development, it is obvious that the community do not have a say and that Council are in bed with Developers and The Hornsby Advocate. I do hope that Council listen to the community on this one. Anyone who thinks this is a great idea is clearly an investor, stakeholder or doesnt use the existing shops and live within 500 metres!
