Has there been a change to planning laws. Didn’t realise 3 storey properties were approved in Portarlington.

  2. Elizabeth Simner commented

Can you please clarify how this development is able to exceed the 7.5m height limit when other properties further from the beachfront can not.

  3. Fern Smith commented

8 newcombe st development is proposed to be three storey in a residential area, I understand the regulations are for two storey dwellings. For this I do not wish this development to go ahead unless its amended to two storey.

  4. Robyn Bull commented

Why do we even have to comment? This should have been refused straight away. 3 Storey in Residential area is a no.

  5. Robyn Hope commented

I agree 8 Newcomb Street, should not be any higher than a 2 story dwelling. Why would you allow this COGG?

  6. James Taylor commented

Appears totally out of character and proportion to the surrounding neighbourhood, will overlook adjoining properties, above permitted height, raingardens on street fenceline are dangerous and should require child-proof fencing and they will be a mosquito breeding ground.

  7. Hazel commented

I agree, 8 Newcombe Street should not be any higher than a two story dwelling in this area. It would look out of character with the rest of the surrounding neighbourhood.
    Why??

  8. Robbie O'Rourke commented

There is no need for a 3 storey building that would enjoy unobstructed water views as a two storey building and therefore be within current planning scheme guidelines. This plan is out of neighbourhood character and inappropriate. It needs to be rejected not just to prevent an avalanche of more of these proposals that will create taller buildings behind it but to also send a message to other like minded developers that these proposals fail.

I sincerely hope the council listens to the people who live here and these valid observations regarding inappropriate building height. It is NOT inner city Melbourne, it is a small village. Three storey dwellings are not appropriate in our streets.

  10. Rebecca commented

The density isn't an issue as these blocks and the houses on them seem to reducing in size, it is again the height that is an issue and that is why I oppose this application

  11. Beverley Cole commented

As a resident I also wish to voice my objection to this development. A 3 storey dwelling is not acceptable in our suburban streets. If approved it will set a precedent for further 3 storey dwellings- which once established - will encourage developers to then push the boundaries by seeking approval for 4 storey dwellings. This seaside village is not an appropriate place for dwellings that exceed a 2 storey limit..

  12. Lauren Chaberka commented

Totally against a 3 storey dwelling in a residential area. It’s against regulation and should not have even progressed to this point.

  13. Alison Volkerts commented

Totally against any 3 storey development. We are not the Gold Coast! You would be ruining our beautiful Bellarine if this goes ahead. Opens the door for others. Ridiculous!

  14. Charlie Grech commented

I totally agree with all these other comments. Keep within the height of a 2 story building.

  15. Joe Portelli commented

Why are we all against a 3 story building in a residential area and yet there’s one in hawthorn street

  16. jones George commented

For crying out loud, this is portarlington not st.kilda.nobody wants 3 story buildings hear, who stands accountable for approving this unexable behaiver, not on

  17. Hazel commented

This is ridiculous, 3 storey dwellings in Portarlington? And on the main road into the town! What an eye-saw that would look like. I say no to this development.
