Yet another house being turned over to visitors rather than a year round long term rental. No no no.

My next door neighbour has turned the right of way into a main entrance for them ,and their b&b guests. Sometimes I have several people outside my back door. It doesn’t affect their privacy, just mine. My mother bought the cottage in 1972, no problems with previous neighbour. It’s now a world where self interest rules.

I would urge the HCC to end approvals for complete houses being turned over to Airbnb usage. We have an extreme rental crisis in Hobart and every house taken out of the long-term rental market makes the problem worse.

At least they have applied for council permission unlike half of Hobart. The council should focus on those that don’t have permission instead of those that do the right thing and apply to council. I live in the area and this is a teeny cottage right on the road that is better suited to short term.
I ask the council to make Airbnb site the approved council applications before allowing the property to be listed. So I applaud those that face public scrutiny by applying for short term council approval. I ask those critics how many investment properties they have?

I find Ms Lu T Robinson's comments quite astonishing. The fact that a person owns investment properties or applies for a permit is completely irrelevant to whether HCC should permit the use of these properties for short term, high turnover use. That is a policy issue that should be considered in the context of community needs and the impact on the community.
Quite apart from lessening the stock of long term rentals, there is the issue of noise and impact on privacy.
