The planned granny flat is small and to the rear of this property. With no rear neighbour this should not be an issue. There should be more of this. The only way forward in the short term is allowing dual dwellings/dual occupancy on existing blocks. I am in favour of this.

State regulations on this are clear. The only use for this additional dwelling could be for the owners or family or carers. This is not (as the real estate agent suggests) the way forward unless the State changes this provision. Before Noosa Council begins to approve infill development it needs to have a clear housing strategy based on facts and research and be sure it is actually meeting defined needs and State Govt. provisions.

I am not opposed to the idea of a granny flat / secondary dwelling for family or long term rentals (to help ease the rental crisis). However if approval sought is just a facade to use it as short term holiday accommodation, I am strongly opposed.

Definitely no secondary dwelling. We cannot allow this request to set a precedent for the future …. I am in support of affordable housing within the shire but not in the style of secondary dwellings. This would be the beginning of a very dangerous precedent abd a nightmare for Council.

Please say NO. Many homes in Noosa are under-utilised. Huge mansions with 4-5 bedrooms yet only a single person or a couple living there. How about allowing the interior to be remodelled into duplexes to accommodate family members, and NOT allow the land footprint to be increased for a separate granny flat. Australia has just witnessed horrendous floods, supposedly due to climate change. The last thing we need is more land swallowed up by housing and more hot black roofs. Good drainage (ie grass/dirt/gardens) is vital to soak up water for fast flood mitigation, while trees are vital to keep temperatures cooler.

Granny style accommodation is ok as long as it is for family use ONLY.
Any short term accommodation, sets a dangerous precedent.
There enough problems now with existing STA requests
