Visitor accommodation as part of own dwelling - YES

Visitor accommodation as whole of building in town - NO
This is short term rental for astronomical amount of money.
Hotels can be cheaper - just a rip off for tourists, and a atab in the back for our own population.

    Re: 35 Forest Road
I agree with Helen Ducker’s comment: there are too many applications for complete houses to be classified as “Visitor Accommodation” in inner city Hobart.

Partial use of one’s own house is fine but we don’t want areas becoming devoid of locals and turned over to sole-use Airbnbs, with the possible issue of “party houses” becoming a problem. There is another house not a 100 metres from 35 Forest Road that we have been told is to become sole-use Airbnb; and I believe there’s one round the corner in Cane Street.
Please put a sensible limit on the number and density of this type of classification. And bear in mind that many people wanting to live in these areas are not able to because of the growing number of Airbnbs.

The demographics of Hobart are being changed to the detriment, and without the consent, of local residents. Profits for the few at the expense of the many.
Next Council elections would be a good time for a referendum on the appropriateness of an ever growing number of Air BnBs in our urban areas.
