We need low cost housing, not more visitor accommodation. All applications for single houses, flats etc for visitors should be refused and approvals only given for share in owners own living space.

I agree. Surely our State government needs to be prioritising long term Tasmanian residents over visiting tourists. Do we have to wait until every second renter is couch surfing or homeless before action is taken?
Other capital cities across the world have capped Air BnB style accommodation. Given the high cost and shortage of rental housing here, why aren’t we?

I agree with the above we don’t need any more visitor accommodation in Hobart.
More housing for those on low income is needed.

As a resident of Wapping I am not in support of further neglect by the Hobart City Council of its own planning schemes, eg. Sullivans Cove Planning Scheme. It is about time the Council
    1) Took the fight back to the state government to redress the influx of investment owners looking for better returns over opportunities for longer term residents and driving up costs.
    2) Instructed their planning officers to give greater priority to the Hobart City Council Planning Schemes when providing their opinions.

Re applications to change residential apartments to visitor accommodation - such as 20/37-39 Campbell St - I agree with all the comments so far. I am opposed to further visitor accommodation: a cap should be set which is fair and reasonable, to allow for a good supply of long term rental accommodation at moderate prices.
