I strongly object to this proposal to create another bar in our previously quiet community. Four new bars including a brewery have started on the strip between Orient Street and Douro Road in the last few years. Also, South Beach Hotel has changed from being a quiet local pub to having live loud music every weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). We have been plagued by noise, parking and traffic problems since these developments and feel our community is under siege.
I am a doctor and work with patients with alcohol problems, domestic violence resulting from them. We have more than enough alcohol outlets already.
Please please do not approve yet another assault on our community.

    Dear City Council
Over the past 10 years “the strip” of South Terrace in South Fremantle has become a hotspot of entertainment.
It would be good if resident only parking permits could be issued on streets in the area coming off South Terrace, namely Harbour St, Orient St, Mclaren St, Scott St and NOT for just Commercial St ( which is presently the case). Parking for residents has become a big issue on our streets as the popularity of venues in the area increases with time.
As rate payers we should all be considered equal.
    Kind regards
    Graham and Judy McLachlan

As discussed at the most recent community precinct group at The local with councillors and mayor in attendance , there was a strong indication that south fremantle residents believe there are already too many bars in what is a shared residential area. The consensus was that council should consider other applications for businesses in south fremantle rather than just more bars. Madelenas is already creating their extension on the rooftop which will contribute to more noise. There is already a complete lack of parking in relation to patronage for south fremantle

I would like to object to yet another bar in our quiet family orientated suburb. We have been here for 20 yrs and most venues along South Tce were eateries. There was one hotel (The Dav, now South Beach Hotel) which was quiet and family friendly. Our lives are being destroyed by constantly having to fight noise and alcohol based venues appearing along South Tce. Our 120yo home is made of timber, along with many other houses in the area, which is what creates the charm of South Freo. We have no protection from the noise, our houses actually vibrate with it, we can't think, work or sleep whilst it is happening. Please no more bars and please insist that existing and future venues are soundproofed so that if their customers really want loud music (which I doubt), they can have it without inflicting it on us. I am a GP who daily deals with the consequences of alcohol consumption (liver disease, cancer, dementia, depression, domestic violence, sleep apnoea, accidents etc) and can't do my job if you are constantly working against us.
