The home owners at a nearby residence in Hugo Street strongly object to this planning application. Filling this street with multilevel apartments is going to negatively impact our street and our community in a number of ways. The council seem hell bent on cramming as many people in to smaller and smaller spaces and removing parking options for its residents. This street currently has just 8 recessed bays for parking and during the period I have lived here, options for street parking have been restricted and removed. Parking was never a problem in the past but, with the change in council strategies and the push to allow developers to build upwards wherever they feel there is profit to be made, will create future parking problems and increased traffic here. This is currently a lovely quiet, family oriented, safe residential street. Crime rates are low and traffic volume is low. Potential changes in the style of housing and reduced parking options are not only going to affect the landscape, asthetics and the community here but will affect house values. Apartment blocks are ugly and are not something that we want or need in this area. The housing here consists of single and double storey properties and this principle must be maintained or the street will be utterly ruined for the sake of short term profit. We categorically oppose this development and will challenge any attempt at the council approving it by actively joining together as a street community to oppose it.
