I recently received an email about this development and visited the site to read the ‘Notice of an Application for a Planning Permit’ (yellow notice) but I could not find one. This notice is usually placed in a position around a property where it can be read by the local residents. I also looked it up on the Whitehorse Online Applications and found it under the ‘Planning Register’ not the usual ‘Planning Register – at Advertising’. Will a ‘Notice of an Application for a Planning Permit’ (yellow notice) be placed around the property? Why is it being done in this way?

I understand that the owner can do as they wish with their property but this is a very large development that will affect the residents who live around the property. It may also destroy a garden and a number of established trees that may have been planted around the same time that the early twentieth century Federation style house was built. This was when Strabane Avenue was known as Seymour Rd. The Ashmole Reserve (just across the road) was named after the Ashmole family who lived in the house and were large local land owners. This house and land has heritage value for the City of Whitehorse.

Across Strabane Avenue from this development is U3A (University of the Third Age ) Box Hill provides an extensive program of classes and activities for over 400 Box Hill senior citizens. The impact of the proposed build on their access to the Strabane Avenue parking and egress will be unfavourably effected throughout the years ahead. What provision for traffic management has been made?
What chance will there be to formally make a submission to Council about this project?
Already noise from the site is disturbing classes.
