In my opinion this project represents an overdevelopment. This is a standard sized block and is probably the first to be subdivided in this street. It will set a precedent for the rest of the street to end up as a bunch of paired terrace thin houses on narrow blocks. Garden St is now ugly due to this kind of building. Just because these blocks have the correct land ratio for development doesn't mean that they should. They only have the extra land at the back due to southern cross drive. If people want to live in a noisy house the size of a flat they can live in Mascot.

This marks the first subdivision in Vernon to St Helena Pde. Clearly the owner is maximising their purchase. This will impact on the perception of the area and will result in more of the same, increasing population as more of these subdivisions occur and demand on local services.

Why do Councils continue to allow these DAs that totally destroy the existing streetscapes of the area? Single level, brick residential homes replaced by boxes which add no value to the aesthetics and character of the street. We are losing any value left in our streetscapes and the environment in general. These DA's don't need to be approved - the Council could look at alternatives in design and make those applying adhere to stricter controls
