Assuming it is the tree on the photo it looks as though it is nearing or has reached the end of its life. Trees in this condition can drop branches posing a risk to the public and household. They can even fall over in strong winds. Therefore, no opposition to the removal.

The removal of this tree should be opposed. It is not old (it is a paperbark and looks this way naturally) It is neither obstructing, in the way of wires, nor is it not diseased. Ryde council should be protecting trees and the wildlife they support, rather than this incremental destruction of the leafy suburb that makes people want to live here in the first place. The fact that this is a gardening business at this address is even more disappointing and disheartening.

I agree with Ray. I walked past this tree today and it looks on good health, is paperbark and the foliage is thick. It is not obstructing a walkway, and does not look diseased or rotten at all. The application to remove this tree should be opposed.

What is the reason for the application to cut down this tree?
Ryde Council adopted extraordinarily generous provisions in it’s tree management DCP, not once but twice, based on the expressed wisdom of one of it’s esteemed councillors. Trees can be cut down without approval if they are within 4 metres of a dwelling, swimming pool or garage.
Has the Council received a report from it’s arborist? Is the tree in poor condition? Is it a victim of a zealous councillor seeking community approval for his sensitivity to the need for no obstruction to maximise development potential?
