I think only in really necessary instances should a beautiful large river red gum be removed. It takes many many years for a tree to grow to a size where it is 'regulated' and it cannot be replaced easily because of all the eco-system functions a large gum provides. Even planting young new trees can never replace it! It is of huge important to our local environment to have large gums like this because it increases biodiversity (which is important in so many ways) because a lot of different animals (and other plants) rely on it. A large regulated tree has nest holes and so is very important to our local wildlife (birds, possums, bats etc.). For humans it provides shade, filters our air and provides better air quality and trees increase our mental health too. It also increases house prices. Seen the huge importance of large trees like that I would not want to see it removed. Also in this area a huge number of trees have recently been removed already to make place for the new buildings on the golf club. It would be a huge loss to our area to remove our tree.
