We live in a VPO 3 protected area and everyone should respect this. Every tree should be protected and fences should be built around our trees. It is actually possible to have both a beautiful tree and a stable fence. I have recently had our fence repaired due to damage from our tree located on the fence line. Our brick layers have been extremely careful not to damage the root system of the tree and elevated the area of the fence where the tree is to ensure the longevity of both the tree and the fence. The issue here is the fence needs to be replaced not the tree removal.

I totally agree with Elouise. Every tree should be protected and fences should be built around our trees. How long has the silky oak tree been there? Surely you had some idea of the issue before this. Do you understand how removal of one tree impacts our whole environment? You are so fortunate to have been blessed with this tree. Think of all the many benefits. The longevity of the tree is paramount.
Look at replacing the fence first - honour the tree.

I agree with Elouise also and this should not be tolerated in a VPO3 zone. Surely this tree can be built around like I’ve seen countless times before. It’s a magnificent specimen and should be admired.
