Land affected by heritage overlay should be left alone and this council needs to be proactive on developers who are trying to bulldoze the character, comfort and suburban feel of our community here in Caulfield east for gain only to themselves. 12 storeys is monstrous. This is not a CBD or a tourist hot spot. It’s a family neighbourhood. What is not required is more apartments here- a quick look on realestate.com.au there are now dozens of listings for disused apartments and units in the Caulfield “village” district. Clearly they are surplus to requirements. They’re unsuitable for families, hence why they’re stagnating now on the market. International students are not the backbone of this economy and this area, how about focus gets shifted to people who live here and will stay here, not the international drop ins. Ridiculous.
