Silky oaks are ideally suited to the Australian environment and can live up to 100 yrs , they attract honeyeaters, wattlebirds, lorikeets ,cockatoos, possums, bees , butterflies and many other insects . I would think this is a good reason to keep the tree.

There needs to be a really really good reason to remove any mature tree. In my experience panic about root systems are often over exaggerated. Any tree removal needs to be replaced with multiple new trees with a reminder that young trees can never replace mature trees. Our city critters rely on them for their life.
