Please please please stop allowing the removal of trees!! It’s insanity given the heat island effect we’re suffering on the peninsula. It needs to stop.

There are too many trees being cut down on the peninsula. They need to be either trimmed or built around. We need trees in our suburbs and a sense of collective responsibility to ensure that we live with our natural environment, for birdlife, for shade cover, lower localised temperature and cleaner air.

It would have taken decades for these trees to grow. It's shameful. When will council start taking into account the ramifications of cutting down so many trees for development? Why aren't the applicants encouraged to consider other options? It seems all too easy to get approval for this. We all have a responsibility for the environment we live in. We all need oxygen to breathe. No-one is exempt from that.

I object to the removal of these established trees. I cannot understand how the continued clearing of trees on the Peninsula fires with Council's Climate Change Strategy or the Greener Places Strategy. Please save these trees from destruction. We will be sweltering down in the Peninsula again this summer thanks to the heat island Council have allowed to be created.
