Parking on Wonoka Street is restricted to the north side of the street for fire access. This means that street parking is already at a premium. Every new subdivision intensifies this problem and therefore new properties need to provide off-street parking for all associated cars.

Tree clearance should be kept as loss of grey box trees major impact on Koala population
Cars are already parking in Street even though garage part of the property

The problem is that there will be 3 more houses behind the application on 20 Wonoka st with a community driveway. 6 houses will be located on the subdivision of 16 to 20 Wonoka st so the potential for traffic impact on the street will be great. It is alarming that this sort of high density housing has been allowed to proceed without local community consultation by Mitcham council.

There has already been significant clearing of trees on the block in preparation for the subdivide. This has denuded 20 Wonoka Street of native plants and valuable tree canopy and infrastructure that was part of the local wildlife corridor. New subdivision and subsequent build proposals need to ensure re-vegetation occurs as part of development. Parking on Wonoka Street is restricted to the north side of the street for fire access. This means that street parking is already at a premium. Every new subdivision intensifies this problem and therefore new properties need to provide off-street parking for all associated cars. This application should also be considered in conjunction with development behind 16-20 Wonoka, where additional houses will also be built, thus the additional traffic and parking issues are more significant than just those in the current application.
