Chirn Park has always been known as a boutique part of Southport, with older residences adding to the aesthetic feel of the area. Newer residences along Fisher Ave and Kerr Avenue have added to the character of the area and it is hard to imagine how the erection of four dwellings on the site where one two-story building has stood since 1963 can possible enhance the beauty of the area.

Yes, a new development will happen on #30 Kerr Ave but please let it be in keeping with the build and character of the area. Let it retain its charm.

Chirn Park has managed to retain charm and character with most of the new developments. Can GCCC please consider supporting the village nature of this area. We are not Broadbeach or Surfers Paradise but a small niche community in amongst everything else. Please don’t support cookie cutter development - require developers to offer up plans that are empathetic and enhance the quality and liveability of our suburbs.

the uniqueness that Chin Park has to offer and the potential for its future promotion as a boutique niche should be taken into consideration by GCCC when considering DA's for this area. It has a defined sense of place, its currently an attractive buffer area separating the surrounding density areas of southport to the south the university and hospital to the west and Labrador to the north. it has retained a low key village feel and this promotes a real safe community feel.
In particular Kerr ave and its connecting streets . This is a high pedestrian area on school days with its access to the high school at the end of the street and it currently has retained a safe feel for the children walking. (This in itself is worth preserving and promoting) I feel the safety feel for this area is due to the majority of dwellings being low density single homes on the blocks. Kerr Ave definitely does not need an increase in its housing density as is what is currently proposed. Yes development of this block will happen but please let it be empathetic to the village feel and retain its unique character and liveability of this area

Labrador is a wonderful place to live. It’s casual, relaxed atmosphere means that you can escape the masses at the end of each day. Having been born here 44 years ago I have seen the many changes to the Gold Coast. I grew up going to Harley Park Swimming, it was very muddy and full of Sea Weed and was not a bit as lovely as it is today. There has been many wonderful upgrades to the area throughout time and it’s been magnificent to see the community spirit grow and evolve with it. My problem lies with over population in the area through high density building. It will instantly change the atmosphere and charm of the boutique suburb and make it more like a standard overly populated coastal town. There is just so much potential to evolve Labradors Boutique feel maintaining its unique and individual charm. It feels like adding more units etc to the area will only turn the community into a substandard suburb where it is honestly the north ends under rated little jewel. If it was planned right it could be more of a high end place to be and not one of too many people, no where to park, more crime and less essence. Think this through it’s a crazy choice to adulterate such a beautiful place. Keep the essence and individuality of Labrador , it’d be a total crime not too!

The area either side of Chirn park already has severe parking shortages especially around school pick up and drop of times. The intersection of Kerr and Musgrave becomes very congested at times. Any planning in this area needs to take this into consideration especially in regards to the safety of students coming to and from the High School. At least two car parks per dwelling is an absolute must in keeping with the average of the houses in the area.

The village feel of Chirn Park has been so evident this last 6 mths .. people walking to support local businesses .. Parking is already at a premium as those driving sit in cars waiting for people to leave so they can park .. High rises will destroy this vibe .. Musgrave Ave is already gridlocked morning & afternoon East & West & Musgrave/Kerr ave is already a dangerous intersection .. we have brought friends from southern GC to our coffee shops & they say “ how good is this , great vibe , friendly , fabulous food /service .. we’ll be back .. what a great area “ lots of beautiful old homes to renovate NOT replaced by highrise buildings !!

The character of housing in a suburb is something that grows over time, with delicate relationships to community health and well-being. The special character of Musgrave Hill and Chirn Park residential areas is based on the landscape, the spaces between houses, the style of houses and the scale of houses. Any attempt to change height, site cover and setback from boundaries is artificial and will destroy existing character. The inherent character of Chirn Park and the surrounding areas must be preserved. Chirn Park has a unique Gold Coast character. It should be protected for the health of the residents.

As a new resident to Chirn park ( I live 500m from the proposed development) and a qualified driving instructor of 17yrs, i can tell you the area can not handle an increase in traffic. Musgrave ave is a death trap and i have personally called the ambos 3 times in the last month for multi car accidents. As it is, you cannot find a car mark on Kerr avenue, Brooke or Fisher, let alone Musgrave avenue. Regardless of regulations and development guidelines, 4 dwellings doesn't pass the pub test.

Chirn Park has maintained the charm and grace of a wonderful village environment. We pride ourselves on the fact that we’ve avoided the gross high density development like other suburbs have sadly endured.
There is already traffic flow issues as a result of the school pick up and drop off as well as minimal parking as it is. Please consider locals when allowing these developments.

This development is NOT in keeping with the village lifestyle of Chirn Park and its surroundings. We don’t have enough off street parking as it is. This one development could potentially bring 6 more vehicles per unit to the street !! This is a beautiful suburb that good people have spent hundred of thousands of dollars renovating houses into their homes. You will ruin these beautiful street with greed and over population. GCCC think outside the box and use our rates money more wisely and come up with better solutions other than cramming more people into suburbs that the people who live there already don’t want!!! And decreasing the value of our homes!
