I object to this DA as this subdivision and development proposed destroys the character of this part of the Eastwood/Epping Heritage Conservation Area (HCA). It is not in keeping with the subdivision patterns and the streetscape. The black bricks and grey slate will look out of place.
The 1.8m fence through the middle of the property will look terrible. The new lot 2 will not be compliant with the required width for lots in this street.
The landscaping areas for the two lots do not meet the planning controls. The proposed water retention pit at the front of lot 2 will inhibit any tree planting and will impact on the landscaping.
The removal of 6-8 trees (information seems inconsistent so it is difficult to determine the number) is not acceptable for this HCA. Replacing the trees/landscaping along the eastern side with a driveway including a permanent car parking space is not acceptable. The tree removal takes away habitat from the wildlife and will make the suburb hotter. It also devalues neighbouring properties and defeats the purpose of having a HCA in this area.
There are no details on the deep soil space but it seems the tree replacement will be minimal. This DA with a large building footprint and minimal landscaping area does not belong in this suburb. I would like to encourage others to lodge a submission for this DA even if to just object to the high level of tree removal.
