That is ludicrous. Consult the Dharug people. Wiseman Ferry is a sleepy town and peaceful and you want to build this monstrosity. No way. So distasteful! .Get a grip whoever owns the Retreat. It is called the Retreat for a reason.

I have lived in this valley for 17 years and yes Wisemans has been a sleepy little town for tourists to come and enjoy. But I have lived with crossing the ferries with concerts and festivals with thousands upon thousands of people crossing them to get to Del Rio which was hours to get home after a long day at work. I have not asked Del Rio to stop. They have so many people visit their big Caravan/cabins park every weekend lots of vistors, its part of the valley. Even they have upgraded to expand with the times. I believe that Wisemans Retreat is doing this as well, just coming down the mountain you can see all the new sub divisions being built Wisemans will not be sleepy with all that happening. This new proposal will do so much for the townships business, they need this. Work will be available for locals so we do not have to travel away from the valley. Is it not far better to have owners interested in the valley people, the businesses in the area and involve us rather than off shore (as it is now) people owing it who don't even know the staff never mind anyone in the community. The staff are 100% behind this and know how good this is for business and for them. Right now the retreat is tired and old and needs some love to make it a better place for visitors. This in no way is a monstrosity it will use the land that is here already in a much better way, right now it is just grass and tennis court, it changes nothing outside of the retreat but inside makes it fabulous for guests to have such a unique place to visit. We live in an outstanding beautiful area and why wouldn't we want to showcase it!!! I love Wisemans Ferry and I feel this is such a fantastic opportunity to make the Retreat and Wisemans Ferry a destinations place to visit for all people around the world. I would be so proud for that to happen. So I say lets get started because we need this in our Little Town

After viewing plans and speaking with the planning team and staff at the resort.I feel this will be of great benefit to all of the Wisemans area. They plan to upgrade all of the Retreats buildings and surrounding area. This will improve the usage of this resort and will bring more people in during the week which will help all the businesses in the area continue to grow and employ locals. It will out of sight therefore not take anything away from our beautiful village.
    Excellent plan, well designed.

I am concerned with the extra amount of traffic entering the valley. Usually on public holidays etc banked up traffic coming down Northern Road S-bend into wisemansferry is gridlocked, with lengthy delays attempting to turn left onto river to access webbs creek ferry.
What infrastructure will be put into place to accommodate for increased cars and traffic control?

  5. Stephen commented

Great idea for the area. Having a safe spot to swim in an area with so many boats will be fantastic for local tourism and make Wisemans Ferry a great weekend destination for Sydneysiders. The economic benefits will help the community also.

In answer to Lisa Wyats concern, I have spoken at length with with the prospective new owners of The Retreat and have been assured that the new wave pool will only be available to patrons staying at the retreat and locals who may wish to use the facilities. I don't believe there would be any increase in traffic beyond The Retreat having a full house which would have been in the planning infrastructure when The Retreat was originally built.

While I am not at the moment a resident within the Wisemans Ferry township, I am usually down there a couple of times a week and think that this could only be a good thing for people there both economically (within the business precinct) and locals alike.

I believe it will create more job opportunities thus allowing locals to work closer to home, giving them a much better lifestyle, (allowing them more free time by not having to travel hours a week to get to and from work).

It would also improve facilities at The Retreat for both young and old. People that may like to learn to surf (who don't have the opportunity currently), people who play golf (I am assured the course will be upgraded) and general use of other upgraded facilities for locals as well.

It would be good for the town & employment and i have no objection to a wave pool HOWEVER I would like an acoustic test done from the resident homes on the boundary of the retreat done by the council an independent body I've raised the issue with developers had no response in 3weeks what steps are being taken to ensure quality of life for the residents who live on the boundary line ? Who & how are the 150 + guests going to be controlled at 11pm to 4am ?people like to drink drunk Again I am not trying to be a pain but some one needs to address these issues so we can all be happy & live in harmony I know an acoustic test was done in the retreat but not at a busy time I feel this guesstimating , sound resistant measures for the boundary residents & guests of the retreat would be critical in the outstanding success of the best retreat destination in sydney this is a fabulous place & the potential is unlimited
    Regards boundary resident Linda .

I think this proposed development sounds like a great idea. It will revamp a tired facility and create more jobs for locals. I am however only in favour of it if it is available for members of the public (to pay as day guests) to use, and not just those staying at the retreat. In this way the whole community benefits rather than just the owners of the retreat.

  9. Sandie Morthen commented

This is a great idea! The resort caters not just to schools but also specialty groups who bring money into the economy. I vist the area for one of these specialty weekends. The facility is good now however is dated and does need some love and repairs

  10. Mandy commented

I think the plan is a great idea.
The retreat is definitely tired and in need of renovation.
A wave pool would be a unique draw card for the area bringing tourist dollars and employment that would be of benefit to many.

I have been a guest at various accomodation venues in Wiseman's Ferry for the past at the Retreat and whilst it is a beautiful location and stunning surrounds, it is in urgent need of an upgrade. For the venue to remain viable it needs to be upgraded and offer better facilities to guests and locals. I may not live within your council, however I do spend a a deal of time within your council's boundaries. We love Wiseman's Ferry for the peace, tranquility, beautiful surroundings and a welcoming community. This development will only enhance the retreat and create more employment opportunities for the local residents.

  12. Alan Hunt commented

Having looked at plans and speaking with planners I feel this will be very good for our community.
This will help with employment in our area and all the businesses in Wisemans Ferry will benefit with increased turn over which in it's self will help with increased employment.
I strongly support this for the benefit of the whole community.

I have seen planned wave pool plans.
I feel this would be very good for Wisemans ferry community especially the upgrading of other areas of this resort.
I stayed there several times years back before moving here and motel units needed upgrading then. The work involved in this alone will help all trades in area.
The units will get more usage which will increase employment in the area. Businesses will also get some rub off from this.
Please go ahead for our communities sake.

  20. Annette Scurrah commented

I like the plan and the fact that this will also include upgrading all buildings as well.
We stayed there years ago and it was in need of upgrading then. This is a good base for tourists to come and spend a little time in a beautiful country area.
This will help with employing more people and increase all local businesses.
    Hopefully this gets to approval.

This will be great for our area, give more employment and help local busineses. They are great for our area the golf course is wonderful for our people to use. This Wave pool will only add to our community. Great proposal I hope council approves it.

this town is in need of injection of visitors to boost local trade .
I am a local supplier of clothing & business has been waning for years ,
the retreat is a fantastic place to stay but it badly needs this facility to secure it's future
viability and it would enhance the town .

    please make this happen!!!!

  24. L Clark commented

Wait hang on do any of you people live anywhere near the retreat ?
What about the impact on the residents that live close ?

  25. breeza commented

would be great for local area . The area needs this and the flow on of employment and general business. I live near this and I strongly support this.

Have any studies been done on the Impact to the Hawkesbury River regarding the drawing of 30,000 cubic metres of water that will be taken from it & I assume replenished as well. Also the impact of the chlorinated water getting into the river system, next time a flood engulfs the Land there (as it does)?

  27. Michael Fay commented

One upside of the catastrophic floods of 2021 and 2022 is that it should convince locals, council and investors that this is not a viable investment on both commercial and environmental grounds.
    Nice idea wrong location
How could the environmental impact statement have missed so many warnings. Just read a history book about this location.

  28. Linda schellnack commented

Watched from the beginning to the end of both floods didn't get into any of the buildings yes it got into the pool so what it was cleaned within a couple of days the retreat is housing those people that got flooded I say go for it build your wave pool I think it will be great the retreat needs so so much love & if these people can do it then I have no problem boundary resident .
