Coromandel Parade is overwhelmingly a neighbourhood of single storey family homes on large blocks, and this proposal is in no way sympathetic or harmonious to this character. A very similar development was approved and built at 117 Coromandel Parade, and has resulted in a building that is visually jarring and which dominates neighbouring properties. I am extremely concerned that a two-story home built on half of the original block will necessarily result in a loss of privacy on mine and neighbouring properties, and would be highly detrimental to amenity. I urge Council to consider the impact that this proposed development would have on neighbouring properties and on the character of the neighbourhood. When we renovated our property, we were required to meet conditions aimed at preserving neighbourhood character, and respectfully ask that the same concern for character is shown in Council’s consideration of this application.
