I object to the removal of this tree. There should be an arborist report accompanying the DA to demonstrate whether the tree will cause any damage as alleged or not. The property contributes to a Heritage Conservation Area for which the tree adds to the character of the streetscape and is part of the tree canopy.
If the City of Parramatta Council is serious about reaching a 40% tree canopy more creative ways of preserving trees when assessing DAs need to be taken into consideration.
Epping has already had so many trees/assets removed that it will be difficult for it to meet the Greater Sydney Commission's goals of having liveable and sustainable suburbs. Trees are good for our health and productivity. The benefits of the tree most likely outweighs any impact it will have on the carport or garage.
