I object to this application. We need to retain as much of our existing canopy as we can in light of the heat sink issues the peninsula now has due to decades of this kind of activity. In fact, we need to be planting more! Council needs to step in and stop this.

While this property seems to have some lovely trees around the house, can the owners get by with pruning the blackbutt? If the tree is dying, rather than take it out (at great cost) good tree contractors can trim the branches and fix nesting boxes for birds. The tree then becomes a feature (see Google "Habitat Tree au")
As more old trees disappear in an area, the fewer nesting sites and flowers for insects there are which deadens the suburb over time. We won't notice the effect of fewer trees it until there are little to no native birds calling early in the morning. Council has recently committed to an Urban Shade policy, so it would be great to see those values promoted.
