    Dear Sir or Madam,

These remaining large backyard trees are some of the last native animal habitat and shade canopy in our suburbs.

A Council-commissioned report from SEED consulting has reported that tree removals has led the Peninsula now suffering from Urban Heat Island Effect.

Every single existing tree on the Peninsula is now very valuable and they should only be removed if absolutely necessary and when a tree IS removed it should be replanted with 2 new trees of a similar variety (local species that will provide shade and habitat).

This situation of removing trees and not replanting has already caused significant damage to our suburbs.

HOW DOES COUNCIL INTEND TO CHANGE THE SITUATION?

    Regards,

    Melissa Chandler

Please stop cutting down trees people!!!!

It’s irresponsible for council to continue to allow canopy loss on the Peninsula given the heat island effect that we now know exists due to decades of tree removal.

I object to the removal of this tree. In our lifetime the vast majority of backyard trees on the Peninsula have been felled. This removes valuable habitat. The suburbs are getting hotter each year. Please consider alternatives to removing this tree. Thanks.
