15 Fern Street Waverley NSW 2024

Remove one (1) Eucalyptus tree, located in the front yard, on the front boundary. This tree is planted within 50cm of the gas main and is pressing up against the pipes. Tree presents an unacceptable level of risk of damage to property and could fail. The tree has caused the gas pipe to rupture which caused a fire and the brick fence had to be removed to carry out the repairs to the gas line. The roots system was cut in the repairs and has exposed the roots, there is the potential for the tree to fail and fall over, making this an urgent removal for the safety of residents and the owners.

I always admire this beautiful healthy Ironbark specimen when walking past. Why would you want to remove it. It would be a big loss in the streetscape.

As our urban street canopies are struggling and disappearing, trees, especially the established ones, are so important to protect if we want to live in a healthy city. I therefore also question the proposed removal of a mature specimen that would represent a step backwards in what I see as Waverly council's support for a healthy environment.

Eucalyptus trees are the most effective carbon sequestering species. Why would we allow a large mature tree such as this to be removed before it reaches the end of its lifecycle? If this tree is removed, please ensure the street is replanted with a larger number of a similar species.

I concur. Has pruning not been considered in this case? Even with a replanted tree of the same kind, it will be decades before its usefulness comes to fruition.

It sounds like the structural integrity of the roots has been compromised and it will be only a. matter of time before it falls over. Yes replant another tree but please consider indigenous species which will provide habitat for the birds and possibly flowers for the bees. Proper consultation with council arborist On species should be done before planting
