Can the owners keep the tree in the back yard for shade? How about a new deciduous tree in the front yard when the build is finished (shade in summer & light in winter)?
The Peninsula has now lost too many trees on our dry coastal sand plain. Any new tree planted will take much longer to be established (there being little to no nutrients in sand combined with poor moisture retention), so the maintaining of gardens and trees will help the urban heat island effect over summer for the owner and the community.
