Please don’t destroy our stunning, hitstoric housing. We need to pass these beauties down to future generations. We will loose our history and beauty on the streets without it.

The demolition of this piece of history would be very disappointing. This lovely example of residential architecture is in great condition and should be preserved for the enjoyment of future generations. This building shows how former homes can be successfully repurposed while continuing to provide a historical record of the past. Mitcham Council should actively encourage such adaptive reuse. I strongly urge Council to consider refusing any application to demolish this home.

Please NO..to the demolition of this beautiful piece of history ..I urge the council to reject this proposal.Adelaide is renowned for its beautiful old homes..we have lost too many already to so called ‘development’..

Please NO - why another car yard? What is wrong with the building & why can’t more health services continue to be provided. Such a waste

This beautiful character home deserves to be saved, it is in great condition has beautiful features and could easily be repurposed to avoid being destroyed. The suburb of Mitcham has many amazing homes, including this one so instead of destroying our history, help celebrate it as once this homes are gone they are lost forever. The quality of the materials used in the build of this home do not compare to the materials used today. I urge you on behalf a someone who is restoring their first home at age thirty, please don’t approve this request for demolition and let this building be destroyed.

Please do not allow this beautiful property to be demolished, let alone replaced with a car show room.
It is a gorgeous example of a federation villa. Let’s protect it.

The constant bulldozing of Adelaide heritage needs to stop.

We don't need another car yard we need to maintain the beauty of Adelaide's past its comforting. Ask the question why do people travel all over the world to see old stuff?

  9. Pippa Livingston commented

Please ensure all heritage properties are protected, such as this one in Kingswood. Surely there would be plenty of locations that could be redeveloped that do not require the loss of a heritage property. It is distressing when old buildings are demolished such as the cottages on the corner of Hutt and Ifould Streets in Adelaide which is now a soul destroying empty, ugly car park. All heritage properties need to be preserved to ensure that Adelaide keeps it heritage character.

Please save this attractive building and gardens for generations to come. The complexity and high standard of architecture and construction will never be replaced with modern methods. It is beautiful and the City of Mitcham needs to think about what we want to preserve of its history. The district has always looked elegant and green. Some recent constructions, in my opinion, have devalued that in many ways. I believe the real value and beauty of the district is to preserve these well built grand homes. The surrounding garden gives balance and proportion suited to this building. Please don't allow it to be demolished. Here is the choice to show leadership in preserving the uniqueness of these properties, or become like the other suburbs who don't value them.

Mitcham Council, listen to your ratepayers. We do not want architecturally beautiful buildings like this demolished

Please do not demolish this beautiful and historic building. A car yard can be built almost anywhere. There are many spaces along South Road at the moment. Car yards do not really belong in such a graceful and attractive area, and do not add to the ambience of a genteel suburb.

Although progress is wonderful there needs to be a balance between moving forward for the sake of it and preserving parts of our community's history. Beautiful buildings such as this one need planning development and council's help to be protected and saved for future generations to see the beauty from this era and the styles in fashion at the time. This is a gorgeous location and through creative planning this house could be used commercially without losing any of its integrity and maintaining it as part of our community. We seem to be too quick to demolish everything for the sake of making money. There is more to a community than that and the constant erosion of beautiful old premises that don't quite fit the desired need of now, eg for a new car yard, are suffering the consequences of this. Please help save this building and others of its era before none are left for us to admire and enjoy.

I used to live just along from this house ( in another beautiful historical home on Balham Ave.) we still love close by. Please do not allow a glass fronted modern building replace a wonderful well built home. There are already too many large modern constructions in this area. We need to keep this area alive showcasing the wonderful smart historical construction that is sadly disappearing. Please keep this building as it is. Thank you. Lynne Rawson
