This DA is fraught with problems. The house in question is within 9 properties from a heritage site and as such has no authority to demolish. I am reliably informed that council voted against this proposal over 2 years ago. Private certification was sought and the application has been approved. The cadastral pattern in this area is for single storey, single dwellings. This property has not been rezoned to reflect a change in the cadastral pattern. This street is zoned R2 and as such a demolish and rebuild as proposed is incorrect. The residents of this street were petitioned and opposed the demolish and subdivide into three lots. The original DA states that there was to be 2 house on this site. The proposed activity for this development seems ever changing. How can council allow this? The house has also been touted as being a development that could be deemed "affordable housing". This is clearly not the case.
This house has been painted black in the last 12 months, kept vacant and cyclone fencing erected with signage stating " deep excavation" for more than 4 months. Council is unable or unwilling to engage with the resident's concerns, they have allowed the slow demise of the house to continue and ignored the types of buildings erected on Illawarra road and surrounds that are ruining what should be heritage or listed buildings. This house is an Italianate building from the 19th century and with some repair/ renovation could be brought back to its former glory and remain a part of local history.

I am a concerened resident regarding 27 Warren Rd. This street is zoned as R2, not to be demolished or rebuilt. The residents of this street were petitioned and opposed the demolition of this property. The DA is constantantly changing and the truth about the development is not being true to the residents. The signage is not properly showing 'deep excavation. We have been advised by past counsellors that 27 Warren Rd has been voted never to be demolished. The proposal of the plan to demolish the property is not in character in the street. The shape, design architectual style, height and size. The historical heritage will be ruined. There will be an increase in noise and lack of car parking. The street is already heavily congested. The residents can't understand why the council has aloud this to happen.

I dont support this development, we must keep the cultural and historical heritage of Marrickville intact. As a local resident, I am appalled at what has been recently done to this house and the proposed development. Community values should prevail here and when the community says it values our architectural history and when developments do not take this into account then these developments must be stopped
