Liquor licence is not appropriate for this area. The milkbar with the liquor licence resides within close proximity of a Catholic place of workshop and a child care minding facility operating on Holt street, both within a family orientated environment. There is also a busy Sunshine Mosque across the highway for worship. Alcohol, drugs and mental health is an increasing problem in the area and licencing allowing this should not be encouraged or promoted.

    Agree with Astrid.

I also agree with above this application should be rejected as Ardeer is small family community and Liquor shop will also affect the young.

As a local resident - I have no personal issue with the liquor licence. I think the wider variety of products available for purchase will ensure viability of the shop into the future which is important for the community. My household would use the services.

I agree with Amy. Certainly there is an issue of alcohol and mental issues everywhere in society. Ardeer hardly has an issue with alcohol..if anything there is a serious issue with drugs and dealers. To which a premise that sells alcohol has no actual link to increasing this issue.

This is also not a designated liquor shop but a milk bar esk premise. The idea of having a shop where locals can walk to and buy much of what they need, yes even alcohol, is a great thing and if this allows the shop to remain viable as Amy has said, then so be it.

What having a mosk or church nearby has anything to do with anything is beyond me. There is more issue with those that attend the churches blocking the streets and increasing the traffic in the area substantially and creating a legitimate risk to residents, than a shop that sells bottled alcohol.

That milk bar is an institution in Ardeer and has been there in its current form for over 40 years. How about we try to not shut down businesses and encourage responsible trading in our area. God knows we bloody well need an infusion of cafes/shops.
