My first concern is the ever increasing resumption of land designated as "Open Space" in order to construct houses. When purchasers buy property, one important aspect of their purchase are the local amenities, and the 'feel' of the neighbourhood. People need open space in which to relax, to walk and exercise, to watch and listen to nature, hear the bird song and the rustle of leaves, see the colours of nature, and the wildlife of the area. Another is ease of access to and from the property. With the existing Nursing home and schools in the area, there is already traffic congestion. With the DHA development of 344 lots on the old Rifle Range site, and the new Residential Care Complex less than 400m away offering 134 beds, plus traffic from visitors and staff, the roads will just not be able to cope, and residents will suffer. Not just the new purchasers, but the long term residents, who never anticipated such development when they purchased their properties.
Council designated the "Open Space" for good reason. It is unthinkable that this reason should now be overturned. If anything, it is MORE important now than it was 30 or so years ago, as it is a small haven in the immediate vicinity for birds, small mammals, butterflies, beetles and other insects, for plants, some native, some exotic, but all part of our ever decreasing environment. It would be a great shame if the neighbouring owners were to be deprived of this small but very important local asset.

And I suppose they will be chopped up into little 400 to 500 square metre blocks.
Any further development in this area should require at least 30% of green space
on any block after building, otherwise it would end up another getto in the future.
